Manufacturer Warranty Refusals
One of the on-going EAIVT issues are manufacturer warranty refusals.
In the recent case of Mitsubishi Europe, featuring Mitsubishi Outlanders imported into the EU from Ukraine, the manufacturer had first denied any legitimate warranty claims made by consumers in Germany and Switzerland.
Upon request by our members Auto Wilde (D) and BukkAuto (DK), EAIVT and BfI took on the case. After intervention of the EAIVT-BfI task force chaired by Dr Thomas Herzig (owner at Eurobil and ex-Chairman BfI), Mitsubishi Europe eventually acknowledged the regular warranty status of parallel imports from Ukraine.
All cars in question came with a stamped-signed service manual listing most EU countries as eligible for warranty claims. Germany and Switzerland were part of it – there was no mistaking here.
This is yet another example showing that the Independent EAIVT Watchdog is an efficient tool to help both consumers and independent dealers having their rights honoured by the car manufacturers.
